About Me

A Down-to-Earth, Warm, and Caring Counsellor

About Me

I am a down-to-earth, warm, and caring person. I understand that life can sometimes feel difficult and overwhelming. Reaching out for support is not always easy, and taking those first steps can feel scary. If you struggle with commitment, even being here now, you may be questioning whether this is right for you. I want to reassure you that you are not alone. In our sessions, I aim to help you feel safe and supported, empowering you to explore the areas of your life you may be struggling with, so you can begin to make meaningful changes and move towards a more fulfilling life.

You may feel that you have lost touch with your strengths, resources, and aspirations, or that you are experiencing conflict around your core values and beliefs, which can lead to feeling low or unsure of your direction. At times, you may feel overwhelmed or stuck when faced with multiple challenges. These feelings can make you feel alone, and sometimes it can be difficult to share them with loved ones or friends.

Therapy is about building and maintaining a trusting relationship, where you can share how you are feeling without fear of judgement or of hurting those close to you. I will actively listen and offer unconditional positive regard, providing a safe and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences. We will work together at a pace that feels right for you.

I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I will support you in making the decisions that feel right for you. I will walk alongside you on your journey, helping you move towards a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with who you are.

My Approach

In my work I use an integrative approach, combining person-centred, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT. This will enable us to explore both past experiences and present challenges, helping you to gain insight and change behaviours allowing you to improve your life to how you want it to be.

I want you to feel safe in a non-judgemental environment that you can speak freely where you feel comfortable allowing you the space to process and help you regain control of your life. I have chosen two locations that are confidential, one in a leisure centre that even though it appears busy on the outside, inside we have a private space to talk. I understand that it's not always easy to walk into a surgery or clinic, and therefore this space may be preferable. I also offer space at a clinic in Rosedale Way which you may prefer as it's quieter with a different atmosphere.

I offer in-person, telephone, and online sessions, depending on your preference. I have a range of expertise including working 15 years as a pastoral safeguarding officer supporting young people in a secondary school setting (I hold a valid current enhanced DBS working with children), alongside supporting older adults. I have also supported clients who have experienced trauma or domestic violence, as well as those facing challenges with their mental health and wellbeing.

Please feel free to contact me to arrange a free initial discussion so you can decide if you want to work with me. I will be available to answer any questions, and you can hopefully get to know me a little before we begin our work together.
